Effective and Safe Erectile Dysfunction Drugs
It may be hard for a man with no experience in using ED drugs to choose a perfect one. Here we have provided a list of popular and safe erectile dysfunction drugs as well as useful information to learn before using them.
ED Medications Approved by FDA
There are lots of ED medications, but not all of them have been approved by the FDA. It does not necessarily mean that the drugs that are not in the list are ineffective or unsafe, but the approval obtained from the FDA guarantees effectiveness and safety of a certain drug.
The following erectile dysfunction pills were approved:
- Sildenafil (Viagra). It was patented as ED medication in 1996 and approved by the FDA in 1998. It is sold under various brand names, including Viagra that is probably the most recognized name all over the world. The drug relaxes the muscles, allowing the blood flow to reach particular parts of the body.
- Tadalafil (Cialis). It was approved to treat erectile dysfunction in 2013. In the USA, it is sold under the brand name Cialis. It is recommended to use only once a day and is different from many other ED medications by its great ability to work for up to 36 hours.
- Vardenafil (Staxyn, Levitra). It was approved by the FDA in 2010. This medication is taken about 60 minutes before a sexual intercourse. It should not be taken more often than once in 24 hours. Vardenafil is nearly 10 times more potent than sildenafil, so a lower dose is usually needed, which decreases the risk of side effects.
- Avanafil (Stendra). Avanafil belongs to PDE-5 inhibitors. It was approved for the treatment of impotence in 2012. In 2013 it was also approved by EMA (European Medicine Agency). It is taken in dosages of 100 mg or 200 mg about 15 minutes before a sexual intercourse. The dosage of 15 mg is required about 30 minutes before sexual activity.
